Metrology: Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) System

equipment

8 Cleantech Loop #01-20 Singapore 637145

What is it?
Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) is an optical technique ideal for non-intrusive 1D, 2D, and 3D point measurement of velocity and turbulence distribution in both free flows and internal flows.

Manufacturer: DANTEC

Model Name: FlowLite

Applications: .The LDA is a reference standard (RS) used to calibrate the Wind Tunnel System in yearly basis, to maintain the Air Velocity scale.

Instrument Overview: The LDA is a widely accepted tool for fluid dynamic investigations in gases and liquids and has been used as such for more than three decades. It is a well-established technique that gives information about flow velocity. The LDA uses a beam of light from a laser that is divided into two beams, with one propagated out of the anemometer. Particulates flowing along with air molecules near where the beam exits reflect, or backscatter, the light back into a detector, where it is compared to the original laser beam. When the particles are in great motion, they produce a Doppler shift for measuring wind speed in the laser light, which is used to calculate the speed of the particles, and therefore the air around the anemometer

Technical features and specifications:
The basic configuration of an LDA consists of: A continuous wave laser Transmitting optics, including a beam splitter and a focusing lens Receiving optics, comprising a focusing lens, an interference filtre and a photodetector A signal conditioner and a signal processor. The measuring range is 0.2 m/s to 50 m/s
